LE News: Dec 2nd-7th

This Week:

Santa Shop was a huge hit for our Lower Elementary students. We spent the week, wrapping and organizing presents and setting up the specialist room into a shop. On Thursday, each student had a job to do. Many students were in charge of running a table full of gifts. Other students were in charge of the cash, tags, and emergency wrapping. The school raised over $1000 dollars for a local homeless shelter! Way to go KMS!!

Students also sang Christmas carols to residents of Springdale Nursing Home. The students enjoyed having juice and cookies with the individuals.  Thank you Korina for all your hard work to make this event happen!

Next Week:

The Middle School toy drive continues next week. Donations can be put in the grey bins in front of the kitchen.

The Christmas party is fast approaching.  Students have been assigned a variety of songs  and are encouraged to practice over the next couple weeks.  Their choir folders should be kept in their backpacks.

LE NEWS

Last week: LE students enjoyed reading the “Stone Soup” story as a group and making the soup. They enjoyed tasting the concoction and learned about the power of gratitude and working together as a community. This week: students thoroughly enjoyed visiting Lang Pioneer where we toured the village, made a craft, and baked gingerbread cookies. Students especially enjoyed spending time at the school house. Lots of mouths dropped open when discussing the punishments for children! Many of them decided they would not like to be Pioneers!

Next week:  The LE class will be working hard to prepare for our “Santa Shop” which takes place on Thursday. We will be busy wrapping gifts and tying ribbons, and transforming the classroom into a store for the whole school. We are all very excited!

LE NEWS – October 29 – November 2, 2018

This week LE students learned about different kinds of Poetry and then created their own Halloween Poems. On Halloween day we enjoyed sharing them with each other as well as, our Halloween stories. Students also loved listening to the mini-presentations at the Wax Museum put on by UE students.

Next week we will participate in lessons and discussions about Remembrance Day. We will also contribute to the KMS Remembrance Day Ceremony by reading poetry. Next week in Gym, we will continue working on our endurance and speed for our upcoming Cross Country Meet.
