LE Students have jumped right back into routines after the holidays. Students have enjoyed looking at the year ahead, creating New Year’s resolutions and Vision Boards. Thank you to Lisa Cantelon, a KMS parent , who volunteered her time to help us create our vision boards.
A highlight for this month was ski day! The weather was perfect and the students represented our school proudly. We look forward to our second ski day in February!
Culture day also happened during the month of January. Prior to the day, students learned all about the scientific method and the importance of questioning and wondering in science. A number of experiments were done using the scientific method. Students then became experts in one particular experiment and demonstrated their findings to the KMS community during Culture Day.

‘Tis the season for colds and flu. Please make sure to keep your child home if they are sick in order to refrain from spreading germs.
Secondly, please ensure you have all your child’s winter clothing labelled. Also please double check backpacks for items that may not belong to you!

During circle time and while decorating our mason jars, we have enjoyed sharing the people, places and things that we are thankful for. We often share these things throughout our whole year, not just Thanksgiving, but it was an extra highlight with the holiday weekend approaching 🙂
Join us for the AGM next Friday and the Fall Parent Social following. It is a great night to get acquainted with the Board of Directors and other Parents. Details are on the calendar and in an email sent from the office.
A reminder that we post pictures on the password protected section of the KMS website each week. You will not get an email notification when we post them so please check in every once in a while to see if there are new pictures of the students. You may notice that the photos from last year have been archived so hopefully they will load faster now. In case you forget the steps to login, please see them below:
- Hover your mouse over “KMS Parents’ Page” until the drop down appears
- Hover your mouse over “Classroom Pages” and then click “Casa”
- Enter the password
Remember, if you signed the photo restriction form when you registered, your child’s photo will not appear on the website. If you would like to remove this restriction, please see Dianne in the office.
The Canadian Weather has hit yet again with an ice storm and more snow! It was a quiet day around here on Monday. The few Casa children who were here spent the afternoon in Casa South’s classroom.
It was also a busy week with with multiple visitors. We had Stephanie from Under One Sun here to talk to us about a fundraising opportunity for our school. Stay tuned for more information about this. Today’s Earth Day celebration was a favourite for our students. We had Glen from Camp Kawartha in to sing songs and preform a puppet show. Glen has also donated a number of trees to our school, which we will be planting when the ground thaws.
It’s the last week of April! Time sure flies around here! We will begin to start talking about Mother’s Day and showing our appreciation to all the mothers out there. We will be having our monthly fire drill practice sometime next week and let’s hope the warmer weather is on its way!
Please spend some time appreciating our beautiful Earth that we live in.
Here are some ideas that our Casa students came up with:
- Pick up garbage
- Plant a tree
- Turn off your lights when you’re not in the room
- Compost to make good soil
- Try to reduce waste (Litter-less lunches)
- Do not waste paper products as these come from trees
- Protect nature
Have a great weekend!
